The Bitterroot flows have really taken off. 1,390 cfs at Bell, but is definitely still fish able, for now. Flows may continue to rise throughout the week. The skwala has been out and about, but it's certainly not on yet. The fish are slowly turning on to the skwala program, but midges have been the main course on the dry fly menu. Pods of midge-eaters have been a good way to shake off the rust. The fish haven't been too picky. Some will even eat a skwala if you put it right on their nose. Stalcup's cluster midge, Quiqley's midge cluster, or a trico spinner will fool the few picky fish in the pod.  Rogue skwala, Rastaman skwala, (new) Blackout skwala, Flush Floater, or a Double Dutch Bug are some of our favorite skwala patterns. Nymphing will still be your best bet for catching a bunch of fish. Fishing THE WORM has been a good choice. Pheasant tails, olive double beaded stones, epoxy back March brown nymphs, Pat's rubber legs, little black Sloan's, and micro stones have also been productive. Boat ramps are still pretty sloppy, but do able.
