The Bitterroot is certainly seeing some good spring fishing with the more reasonable spring weather.  The skwala fishing has picked up in a big way and the flows haven't been doing anything too crazy since they stabilized.  We should see a couple more minor bumps and drops as the weather changes and we work our way into the warmer conditions.  The flow above town is sitting a little over 3500 cfs with decent clarity.  Like I said before, the top water fishing has been very good so be prepared.  For flies use low riding skwala patterns like flush floaters, Gould's half downs, and bullet heads.  For March browns use a size 14 parachute adams, GT emergers, parachute pheasant tails, and grey cripples.  Underneath use pheasant tails, olive double beaded stones, skwala nymphs, Pat's rubber legs, Hare's ear flash backs, and micro stones. Streamers have been turning some serious fish too with sparkle minnows, double gangas, sculpzillas, Yellow yummys and flash fries working the best in back channels.  The flows are still a little high so expect the fish to be sitting tight to the banks.  Be safe out the and keep your wits about you.
