Missouri River Fishing Report - 3/29

LOOK! It's dropping fast and the fishing is shaping up.  The flow just above Missoula is a little over 2700cfs and will continue to improve.  The top water action has been best in the afternoons but the morning nymph fishing has been very worth while as things warm up.  For the top water patterns, use a low riding skwala like a Gould's half down or a flush floater.  The other main bug that's popping are March Browns.   For those tasty trout treats use a standard parachute adams, purple haze and GT emerger.  Underneath use Pheasant tails, Egg patterns, San Juan worms, Double beaded stones, Pat's rubber legs, Red fox squirrels, and hares ear nymphs.  With the boat traffic these days, being the first couple of boats through a section can make a huge difference in the fishing quality.  If you can make it up earlier to be the first one on the water, it'd be well worth your while.
