Rock Creek has been our MVP of August thus far, and that should continue as we approach the fall season. It won't be long before the colors begin to turn and hard frost shifts the hatches dramatically. For now, the creek continues to fish well with terrestrials like smaller hoppers, ants and beetles. As always this time of year, the chubby chernobyl in smaller sizes is a good bet. Or, a stubby chubby/cloud 9 will fit the bill. Pink hoppers with jig-quill droppers have been very consistent lately too. There is a decent showing of caddis in the evening and this has been producing some good action in the couple of hours before dark (yay, evening fishing again!). Dancing caddis, corn-fed caddis, and elk hair caddis worked well for us.
