Blackfoot River Fishing Report 9/14

The Blackfoot River is still the mid 60s during the heat of the day.

The middle and upper sections of the Blackfoot have been fishing exceptionally well on the surface. Caddis, Hoppers, Ants, and Beetles have all been on the menu. The hopper bite has really been turning on around 1 P.M. The lower stretches have been inundated with floaters and tubers. That said the fish are still looking up on the lower end.

The nymphing has been pretty good. Hanging a brown or olive Perdigon, PT, or Prince under a hopper has been super effective in the mornings and evenings. The Craw bite has been pretty good as well so tossing a zirdle under a larger hopper or chubby can be pretty deadly.

Streamer fishing on the overcast days had been great. Goldies, olive Peanut Envys, or Mini Dungeons have all been productive. On the sunny days running a flashy bug like the Sparkle Minnow would be the best bet to get those streamer eaters moving.

North Fork Of The Blackfoot River:

A Drought Closure (fishing prohibited 24 hours) is in effect for the North Fork Blackfoot River from USFS boundary downstream to Highway 200 starting September 10.
