Rock Creek Fishing Report 5/29

High water is still effecting all of our rivers, including the Creek. That being said the Salmonfly hatch has started on the lower end of the river with prolific hatches up to the mile 10 marker. These bugs will work upstream throughout the coming weeks.

Even though flows are high the dry fly fishing has been phenominal. Big foam flies like the Cats Puke, Water Walker, or Large Chubbies have been fishing great.

Nymphing has been great aswell. A worm and a pats has been the go-to rig. However, the trout have been receptive to Hares Ears, PTs, and Durracells as well.

Streamer fishing has been hit or miss. On the cloudy days or during sunrise and set larger profile dark bugs like the Dungeon, Yard Sale, or Ebony have all been productive.

If you are floating be super causious as the Creek changes quite a bit esspecially during run off. As for the wade fisherman, the flows are still above 1000 cfs so be causious and watch your footing!
