Rock Creek Fishing Report 7/10/26
Rock Creek is dropping back into good wade-fishing shape, with the Clinton gauge around 687 cfs. The creek is still carrying enough water to keep fish comfortable, but flows are becoming more manageable for anglers on foot. Wading should be good in many areas, though faster pocket water and slick crossings still deserve caution.
No floating is allowed on Rock Creek, so plan on wade fishing only. Focus on pocket water, boulder edges, riffle drops, inside bends, soft banks, and slower seams behind heavier current. Fish are settling into classic summer water, and the creek should stay productive as long as temperatures remain reasonable.
Golden Stones, PMDs, Green Drakes, Yellow Sallies, and caddis are the main bugs. PMD spinner dry-fly action is worth watching in the morning on slower edges, slicks, and tailouts. In the evening, caddis fishing should be strong when the sun starts to set, especially around riffles, pocket edges, and softer banks. Dry-droppers are still useful, but be ready to switch to smaller dries when fish start rising.
Clinton weather is hot and mostly sunny Friday and Saturday, then a little cooler Sunday. Fish early and late, look for shaded water during the day, and keep an eye on water temperatures as the heat builds.
