Rock Creek Fishing Report 7/8/26
Rock Creek is dropping back into shape after the rain bump and is fishing well for wade anglers. Flows are still stronger than the low, skinny water we had before the storm, but the creek is clearing and becoming more manageable each day. Expect good pocket-water fishing as levels continue to fall.
No floating is allowed on Rock Creek, so plan on wade fishing only. Focus on soft banks, boulder edges, riffle drops, pocket water, inside bends, and slower seams behind heavier current. The added water has helped keep fish comfortable, but anglers should still move carefully around fast pockets and slick crossings.
Golden Stones are still worth fishing, but the main focus is shifting toward PMDs, Green Drakes, Yellow Sallies, and caddis. Cloudy conditions can help the mayfly bite, while warmer evenings should bring caddis activity. Dry-droppers are productive for covering water, but be ready to switch to smaller dries when fish start rising in softer edges and seams.
Weather near Clinton is hot and mostly sunny this week, with a slight thundershower chance today and highs in the upper 80s to low 90s through the weekend. Fish early, keep an eye on water temperatures, and look for shaded pocket water as the days warm up.
